Objective of
the project:
Promoting training for a group of 24 volunteers to
acquire new manual and vocational skills in sewing
and confection. Faced with the poverty and extreme
poverty of the community, the project takes up the
challenge of improving the living conditions of women
and their families, and the community in general.
Origin of the
project:
the project of the local La Florida Association stems
from a multiplying effect of the San Fernando project,
in which sewing workshops were organized by a group
of women.
Activities:
Premises fitting out (Parish of La Florida): floor,
painting, furniture.
Workshop starting: purchase of equipment in Lima and
installation of sewing machines in the premises, registration
of participants and setting-up of a timetable of courses
and work (6ha week).
Training: sewing workshop (basic and intermediary
level).
Assessment: initial survey to determine volunteers’
knowledge level in sewing, sewing machines and darner
handling ; survey to check results of the workshop,
support, continuity, successes and difficulties in
the training itself, to show the impact of the project
on trained people and their respective family, and
the community in general.
Beneficiaries and motivation
for the project:
Initially, 24 volunteers from AIC « Santa Luisa
de Marillac » of La Florida. The benefits will
be profitable to their families and the whole community.
This will contribute to increase revenues of about
150 persons.
