Objective of
the project:
· Build a « transit hostel » to
accommodate migrant workers and people living in precarious
conditions. Offer temporary shelter to people who
are looking for work and better living conditions.
· Accompany them physically and morally.
· Propose promotion classes to them, especially
to women.
Project history:
The project aims at supporting persons in situation
of neglect, poverty and marginality. After harvesting,
many workers move from the country to the city and
look for better living conditions, health care and
work. They need a temporary place to stay in the city.
Activities:
· Done : purchase of a lot (3 410 square meters)
to build the hostel. The address is Carretera Marginal
de la Selva 461,5 km (esquina con Jr. Cuba).
· In progress: cleanup of the parcel of land,
building, purchase of hostel equipment, drawing up
hostel rules, training of the volunteers, building
a network of contact to work with competent authorities,
raising public awareness in the community regarding
the situation of migrant workers, supporting and training
beneficiaries.
Beneficiaries
:
190 to 285 people in precarious situation, needing
a temporary shelter, health care and support.
Volunteers:
22 volunteers of « AIC de Nueva Cajamarca »
will give 11 880 hours of work to carry out the first
phase of the project.
Budget:
10.870 € (administrative and diffusion charges
included)
