Objective :
The social center welcomes children and young people. It offers them education, leisure, meal and health care. The main objective is to offer them a shelter where they feel accepted in a non-violent and respectful atmosphere, preventing them from drugs or criminality.

Activities :
Finish the construction of the center and buy necessary equipment
Give foreign languages lessons : English, Polish and French
Open a cyber café
Extend the scope of cultural activities : films, dance courses, theatre, concerts.

History of the project :
Although Kharkiv is a big city, there is no space to welcome young people especially in the outskirts.
Since 1997, an AIC local group developed and the young members began to work with children. They organized camps during holidays, disco dance lessons, sport, music and support for homework. They also offer hot meals for those who need it, a place to sleep and take a shower.
Thanks to the care and love of AIC volunteers, the children gained confidence in them.
In the same way, thanks to its support, the parish built a social center that opened its doors in September 2002, although the construction work was not yet finished.
The requested funding will serve to buy equipment needed to run the activities and to pay the wages of the person in charge of the center during one year. It will also finance the development of the different activities.
To guarantee the viability of the project, rooms can be rented, the cyber – café will be open to public and courses will be charged for those who have the means.

Recipients :
Beneficiaries are underprivileged young people from Saltovka (600 000 inhabitants)
