Document to facilitate the application
of the Guide Lines
By Patricia P. de Nava and Marina Costa
AIC´s way of thinking has evolved constantly to
adapt to the signs of the times. It has always followed
its conducting line, in close relation with the first
guidelines formulated by Saint Vincent de Paul in its
time.
Ever since AIC´s world wide renewal of its organization
in 1971, orientation has always been given to help volunteers
to work more and more according to the needs of the poor.
Since then, during the Assemblies of Delegates, regional
plans have been elaborated. Those plans had, among other
objectives, favoring a certain unity among the volunteers
of one region, to reunite them around specific problems
that affect the life of the underprivileged. After the
meeting in Assisi, in 1990, it was decided to substitute
regional projects by Guide Lines, internationally applicable,
that would be valid action criteria by the volunteers
of the most diverse cultures.
