The AIC Asian Regional Conference took place in Tagaytay City in the Philippines from April 6 to April 8. It was attended by 26 AIC volunteers from 7 countries: Cambodia (2), Indonesia (4), Laos (2), Philippines (8), Taiwan (3), Thailand (3) and Vietnam (4). Each association presented its work and activities. AIC International’s representatives Aliette de Maredsous, AIC Vice-President, and Bénédicte de Bellefroid, Liaison and Projects Officer for Asia, presented AIC’s identity, mission, organization and 400th anniversary as well as the ‘Facilitator’s Method’. There were some very interesting discussions about recruiting young volunteers, being a Catholic in Asia and the membership dues. The participants also visited a project for sexually abused girls.
The LC-AIC Philippines Annual Convention took place from April 8 to April 10. It brought together more than 300 national delegates. The main topic was the encyclical ‘Laudato Si’ with different speeches on the subject.
It is worth saying that the energy, enthusiasm and creativity of the Asian AIC associations were really impressive!
