The success of the AIC Diploma in Latin America was evident from the enthusiastic participation of a significant number of AIC volunteer groups and the new projects that many of them subsequently implemented. The AIC Diploma was offered to the 22 AIC national associations in Latin America and more than 500 volunteers there successfully completed the programme.
Motivated by this experience, the Executive Board decided to offer the programme in other languages to allow volunteers from other countries and cultures to participate. To this end, a pilot group composed of several volunteers in leadership roles and a Daughter of Charity from France, Germany, Madagascar, the United Kingdom and the USA followed the Diploma course translated into English. After finishing the programme, the participants met in Paris for an evaluation meeting. They are currently in the process of adapting the training material so that it can soon be offered to volunteers from different cultures. The idea is then to translate it into other languages.
We have high hopes for making this precious training tool available to the whole AIC network!
