400 YEARS OF HISTORY (1617- 2017)
In 2017, AIC celebrated the 400th anniversary of the foundation of the first Confraternity of Charity by Saint Vincent de Paul in Châtillon, France. This very first group has grown into today’s AIC, an international network for fighting against poverty, which now has over 100,000 volunteers in 56 countries.
Explore our journey from our beginnings with Saint Vincent in 1617 to the international association we are today
Throughout the Jubilee Year (08/12/2016-10/12/2017), a number of events were held, at both international and national level and in the local volunteer groups.
The 400th anniversary was a great opportunity to organise pilgrimages in France to the most important Vincentian places. AIC produced practical guides to help you arrange them.
From 12th to 15th March 2017 we held our International Assembly in Châtillon, France, which was attended by almost 400 members from the 53 countries around the world where we are present.
